  26 oct 2006 ? ver. 1.1 preliminary UIC4102CP usb 1.1 active extension cable 1 description this device is an extension cable bet ween usb device an d host (computer) with embedded into connector ?intelligent? integrated circ uits on both sides of the cable. the usb cable with t he chip inside is not a pass ive extension cable. it is an active device. the usb sign als going in and out of th is extension cable in both directions are buffered to assure signal quality. unlike passive usb cables the ic prevents signal degradation. the embedded ?intelligent? integrated circuit cleans, amplifies usb signal and watches usb 1.1 protocol. its control state machine enables and disables usb an d cable transmitters inside the chip depending on usb signals. features ? compliant with usb 1.1 specification; ? provides support for any full-speed (1 2 mb/s) or low-spee d (1.5 mb/s) usb device; ? allows a usb device to have it s cable length extended up to 30 meters ; ? embedded usb 1.1 transceive rs prevents signal loss; ? low cost in comparison with extension of cable using hubs; ? power (vcc) and ground (g nd) wire size: 20 awg; ? usb signal lines (dp and dm) wire si ze: 28 awg, stranded-twisted pair, 90 ohm characteristic impedance; ? downstream connector: female, type ?a?, u sb approved connector; ? upstream connector: male, ty pe ?a?, usb approved connector; free datasheet http:///
